Last week, Mr.
Ito, Mr. Ogata and Mrs. Shima of WASARA visited Copenhagen for the prestigious
INDEX Award 2011Mr. Kascha of SD Trading, the European distributor was also
present.
The
announcement of the 5 winners was made during a live broadcasted gala event in
the Copenhagen Opera House. Mr. Ito and Mrs.
Shima wore traditional Japanese kimonos.
The INDEX
Award is handed out once every two year to initiatives which design improves
life. WASARA was and is frontrunner in the world of food service disposables.
It was the first company which proved that
design and eco-friendliness can be a great match. As such WASARA made a firm
statement to encourage the market to develop sustainable design products.
Unluckily
WASARA was not honored with the first price of €100.000,- in its category "Home" ELEMENTAL Monterrey won
this price with their new model for social housing.
Nevertheless
being one of the 60 finalists in the largest most important design Award
competition of the world surely proves WASARA is among the best designs in the
world with a ability to improve life. The last is the best compliment a
designer can get.
